I've downloaded the backup archive i got in the mail on a windows machine and opened out of curiosity with winrar. And i've noticed there are 3 files for each backup file. Is this normal? Because i have a lot of pictures and stuff that already are pretty large in size so multiplying that by three I endup with a ~ 200 MB archive.

    Any suggestions ?

  2. the backup archive should contain one directory called wordpress_files which contains all your WordPress installation files as well as one file called wordpress.sql containing a database dump of your blog's MySQL database.

Can the generated backup archive be used to move the blog to another server?

  4. xnd: I noticed this problem too.
Indeed, even if the estimated filesize of the backup is about 7MB, I get a backup of 56MB.
I peeked into the tar.gz and noticed that some files are repeated with no apparent reason.
    For example:

'readme.html' is packed twice. Some files thrice.

    Any clues?

Dear rol, thanks for your precious work and support.

Hi rol, great plugin. As xnd a full backup only creates 3 wordpress.sql files and does not create a directory called wordpress_files with wordpress files. This happens in a Linux Fedora environment but not in Windows. In windows all is OK. I use WP 2.3.1 with BackUpWordPress 0.4.5. memory_limit = 20M

  6. oxuello, johny, I am sorry for a) being so late with my reply and b) not haveing a solution for you. I have not experienced such an issue yet, but there are several thing that might be in your way. Is your webserver using a chaching technology? Are you going via a proxy? Does it seem that your backup Request gets triggered multiple times simultanuously?
