Shack, thanks a lot. It's true, admin has to log in at least once to get BotTracker fully installed...

I think I saw where someone else had a problem like this, so I thought I'd post about it.

When I first went to the Bot Tracker dashboard, it gave me a Restricted Access notice and asked me to login (userid, password). I tried a couple of times and it kept giving me this.

I typically do not use the "admin" account to login to Wordpress. I've created a personal admin account for that purpose called "Shack Dougall". But in the past, I have seen a couple of times where "Shack Dougall" didn't work for things, even though it is an administrator account with all roles and capabilities.

So, on a hunch, I logged out and re-logged with "admin", and it worked! It asked me to change the permissions on the crawltrack directory to 777 and then I was in. (I had already changed the permissions on the cache dir to 777).

Interestingly, once it was fully installed, I was able to re-log as Shack Dougall and now it seems to be happy.

Just thought I'd pass that along in case it might be helpful for someone else.

--Shack

I downloaded and installed the Bot Tracker about 4 weeks ago. I have never gotten any reports. I get the below error only. I am running WP version 2.2.2 hosted at SiteGround.com and version 2.3 of the Plug-in. I have checked on my Google Webmaster tools to see that I am getting indexed every couple days.

Internal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator, minnesotainvestmentrealestate.com and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

Here is what the error log says:
[2007-11-26 09:46:09]: error: directory is writable by others: (/home/minneso4/public_html/wp-content/plugins/bot-tracker/crawltrack/php)

Any thoughts?

Nevermind, in looking closer at this, I just saw that I didn't upload the nocache.php file to the 'include' folder. So after having done that, now it's running perfectly. This is an amazing plugin, thanks!

David, usually there is nothing else to do. Crawltrack needs database access, which is provided through WordPress. First Click on the BotTracker Dashboard menu should install the required tables.
Probably it is you MySql version conflicting with CrawlTrack?
Please post some phpinfo()

Sorry if this is a total noob question. I followed the installation instructions for new users exactly (copy files to a bot-tracker folder below wp-content\plugins and activate). I've never done anything with crawltracker before, so it surprised me that I didn't have to do something there as part of installation. When I click on the Bot-Tracker tab on the dashboard, the following error is displayed on that page:

The website cannot display the page
HTTP 500
Most likely causes:
The website is under maintenance.
The website has a programming error.

I'm running WordPress 2.3 on IIS 6 on Windows Server 2003. Are there more steps I need to take to get this to work?

Thanks,

This could be the same problem as mine, just without the error messages. I fixed my error by creating an empty /cache subdirectory under /crawltrack directory and now it works fine it seems (although have not any bot activity in the short time I've had it fixed). Looks at my historical data fine.

Hi,

I just upgraded to 2.3.0 of bot tracker. install seemed to go fine as I just rewrote the files in ftp. when i goto the botracker page nothing shows up in the window. It is as if something is stopping the iframe from working.

I get no verification of upgrading as is listed on your blog. It is just blank.....

any ideas?
